Face of the month – Bartek, our product designer

It’s awesome to have a Designer like Bartek on board. Always focused, up to date with the latest trends, creating award-winning designs. He’s been awarded this month’s prize. Congratulations!

Why you work here. Why Chilid, why Gliwice?
Why Chilid? Because I am stubborn son of a guy! From the start, I knew this was the place for me. I didn’t get here the first time, so I tried once again… with no luck. But, the third time was a charm. I got my own way and I’ve been rockin’ with the rest of the band here for the last four and a half years. Why Gliwice? It’s like my small Silicon Valley, but smaller and cooler 😉

Who are some of your heroes?
Deadpool for his witty comebacks, Batman for his utility belt, and Harvey Specter for just being himself.

What’s playing in your headphones right now?
Baby driver soundtrack

If you had just one box for all of your stuff, what would you put in it
Knife, surfboard, hammock and a sun cream—forearmed is forewarned;)

Favourite dish in your favourite pub?
Duck breast sous vide—since Chilid’s trip to Paris, it has become my number one dish. And, I am constantly looking for the best duck in Poland right now. Unfortunately, no luck so far. Any advice?

Which skills do you use daily (versus occasionally)?
“I do have a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career; skills that make me a nightmare for…” 🙂 So, as you can see, there are definitely a couple of them, but if I had to choose one, I would choose “listening” as my favourite and best one. I listen to understand. This always helps me get things done.

Which apps do you use daily (versus occasionally)?
Spotify—since music is a big part of my life, I always bring it along. In other words, it is the only app I can’t live without. Sktech gets the second place on my list. Frankly speaking, I hardly ever use one of these apps without the other at the same time.

Why not development?
To be honest, I started out as a front-developer wannabe about 17 years ago. Back then, I didn’t even know it was called that. At first, I was learning html, and later CSS, on piece of paper. Not so long after, I started coding with Notepad and Dreamweaver. Code worked, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for me. I wanted it to be nice looking also. And this is where I found Photoshop and decided I needed to decide whether I wanted to code or design. In my head, I couldn’t do both. And guess what… here I am now 🙂

If you could redesign the site for any of the big world brands, which one would you choose?
Marvel Comics—Working with them and being able to draw from such an amazing database of artwork would be a dream come true.

Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert, and why? 😉
A little bit of both. Usually I barely speak; I prefer listening, but back me against the wall and I will break the goddamn thing down.

Who did you want to be as a kid?
Batman—it is always better to be him.

Tabs or spaces?
Spaces! Definitely spaces 😉

How to make you the surprise?
Don’t just don’t—that’s the secret!
